Visit hundreds of cherry trees blooming in mid April on this easy spring hike near Basel in northern Switzerland.
Hike through beautiful river gorge, following a stream through a lush forest, with many small and big waterfalls and interesting rock formations. There are lots of places to picnic and build fires along the way.
If you have a kid who loves construction, this is the place for you! The museum has older construction vehicles on display. For the kids, there are ride-on construction vehicles, a mechanical digger to play on, a sandbox for digging, and real trucks to climb on.
Theme trail for children with 8 interactive stations focused on the five senses. It’s an easy 3.5 km loop through a lush valley, cutting through farm fields and forests. Suitable for strollers.
Flat, easy ride along the Aare river, through forests and farmland, with picnic spots on the water. Flexible distances from 7 to 25 km or longer, accessible by train. After the ride, you can reward kids with a visit to the nearby Frey chocolate factory.
Beautiful walk along a rushing river, through fields and forests, with several narrow sections with dramatic cliff walls, waterfalls and stone bridges. It’s a long hike at 11km, but mostly downhill and not difficult.

This easy bike route along the Reuss river is great for families, with lots of places to picnic. The one way route is accessible by train on both ends.
Though smaller than Zoo Zürich, this zoo has a good collection of animals and a particularly nice aquarium, with many more types of sea creatures that in Zürich. A fun day trip for the kids if you don’t live in the area.
First a nice ferry ride along the river dividing France and Switzerland, then a short walk to visit these lovely waterfalls.
