Lauerzsee is a lovely little lake just south of Lake Zug, overlooking Mt. Rigi. Many lakes have swimming areas, but this lake is often much warmer than other lakes, which makes it ideal for little kids that can get cold quickly. There’s a sandy shallow area for wading, bouncy floats and diving platforms, boats to rent, a big playground, blasio, and a big grassy area for sports separate from the sunbathing area. Plus it has a love setting, with green rolling hills and mountain peaks all around.
Getting There
Lauerzsee is southeast of Lake Zug, just past Arth-Goldau. By car, drive to Seemattliweg, 6423 Schwyz and park in the metered lot adjacent to Seebad Seewen. It’s a small lot so get there early to get a spot.
By public transport, take a train to the main Schwyz train station, then a bus to the Seewen SZ, Barcarola stop, which drops very close to the swimming area.
The swimming area, Seebad Seewen, is at the far southeast corner of the lake, near the highway exit.
