Atzmännig is an outdoor amusement area in the Swiss countryside, with an alpine slide, ropes course, and big play area with pay-to-play amusements including trampolines and giant slides. There are a variety of hikes in the hills, including a theme trail for children. Our favorite part is the ropes course, which has a great smaller course for children aged 4 to 8. We find ourselves at Atzmännig at least once year and enjoy ourselves immensely each time we go.

Getting There
By public transport: Take a train to Rüti ZH, then buses to Atzmännig, Schutt, which is directly at the mountain resort. Your exact bus connection will depend on where you are traveling from
By car: The address is Atzmännigstrasse 1, 8638 Goldingen, but my GPS Nav didn’t accept this address. So I used GPS coordinates: 47°17’05.0″N 8°59’43.6″E .
If you are coming from west of Zurich, your navigation will most likely direct you onto a winding one-lane country road for the last 4.5 km. This way is only about 5 mins faster, but more stressful as you deal with oncoming traffic. If you want to avoid the one-lane road, have your navigation route you through Goldingen on your way to Atzmännig.
Overview
Here is a map of the Atmännig amusements. Some are free to use, most are coin operated or require an entrance fee. See the full list of attractions on the Atzmännig website.

Playground & Amusements
Kids will run straight for the big playground next to the parking lot. This part is free to use.

Most of the other amusements are pay-to-play.

If they only had trampolines, my kids would still be happy.

My 3yr old loved the coin-op cars.

Alpine Slide
The alpine slide is fun but more expensive than most I’ve ridden. It costs CHF 9.50 for an adult and CHF 5.50 for a child, even if the child rides together with you on the sled. It’s 700m long, 17 curves and descends 126m of elevation.

For the alpine slide, get off at the middle station, pick up a sled and wait in line again.

Here’s near the end of the slide.

Ropes Course
There is also an excellent ropes course in the adjacent forest, with routes designed for both big and small. The smaller course is for kids aged 4-8 and features an “always on” harness that makes it easy and safe for kids to do the course.

The bigger courses have lots of exciting elements including zip lines, free fall drops and a scary Tarzan swing (I did it twice!).

Trail options
There are several trails in the area, most of which you can access with the chair lift. All trails shown on map and described on their website. None of these are suitable for strollers but you can rent a baby carrier backpack at the ticket office for CHF 8.
Trail 1 – “Spatz Männi Erlebnisweg” theme trail
My friends recommend trail #1, which includes some interactive elements for children, about 1 hour walking time all downhill. This trail is called “Spatz Männi Erblebnisweg” and follows “Frech Spatz” which means “Cheeky Bird.” It has 8 signposts along the trail as shown below. More info about this trail.

Trail 5 – Panorama loop
We like trail #5, starting at the top of the chair lift, hiking across to the restaurant at Chrüzegg, then looping down to the parking. It has beautiful views of the valley and lovely sections in the forest, about 3 hours walking time. We did this trail in 2007 with my 4 year old walking, which was a little too much for him but he managed. I did it again in Oct 2021 with my 14 year old and his friend and it was super easy for them. This trail is particularly nice in mid-October when the leaves change colors.

Here is the trail map. See complete details for this trail here: Atzmännig Chrüzegg Panorama Trail

Done this today with our 2.5 year old who did amazingly well a d completed about two-thirds of the route, I was very impressed! The views from the ridge from the top of the cable car are absolutely stunning. You have a full view of Glarus, and a bit further on Santi’s, just mesmerizing!
Definitely not for strollers, while the ridge would be doable, going down is not, this is where our daughter have up.
Beautiful area, thank you for the recommendation!
So glad you enjoyed it and thanks for coming back to leave this helpful report.
