This Blumenweg trail is a nice introduction to the Adelboden area, a short easy walk with big views across this region. Along the trail, there are sign boards with drawings and descriptions of the local flowering plants.
Unfortunately, we didn’t see many flowers on our visit, due to a recent hay mowing. But the hike was so pretty, we didn’t mind so much.
The main attraction in Adelboden is the many km of scooter trails. So after the hike, definitely do a scooter ride down the mountain, ideally several since your lift ticket is good for the whole day.

Trail map
Here is the summer map for Adelboden. This trail is reached by a series of gondolas from Oey to Sillerenbühl. The trail is one way to Hahnenmoos, where you can take a chair lift down to Geils and a bus back to Adelboden.
But preferably, you will pick up scooters at Hahnenmoos and ride all the way back down to the Adelboden Oey gondola station, about 9km.

This trail starts at the top of the Silleren gondola and hikes across the top of the Hahnenmoos chair lift. The trail is mostly a wide gravel path, easy to walk on. There were a few obstacles, so it’s not 100% suitable for strollers.
See trail map on SchweizMobil • Komoot • AllTrails • OutdoorActive
Longer trail
If you want a longer trail, I’d suggest the Höhenwanderung from Höchst to Sillerenbühl. It’s 10.6 km, about 3.5 hrs, 520m up, 420m down – see trail map on Komoot or SchweizMobil. This was the trail we intended to do, but the Höchst lift wasn’t open the day we were there. I think that would be the best trail option in this region. See description on the Vogellisisberg website.
Note: The Höchst lift is open daily during school holidays from mid July – mid August and late September – mid October. Otherwise it’s open weekends only during summer. See current operating times.
Scooter run
After the hike, you can optionally rent a scooter at Hahnenmoos and ride about 9km down the mountain to your starting point at the Adelboden Oey gondola station. See the scooter route on Komoot or Schweiz Mobil.
In 2021, scooter rental is CHF 18/day, no discount for a single use. If you plan to use the scooters, you may want to buy a combo day pass that includes unlimited use of the mountain lifts and scooter rental. See ticket prices below.

Getting there
Adelboden is a mountain resort southwest of Interlaken in the Bernese Oberland. This area is easily accessible by car or train.

By car
Drive to Bodenstrasse 2, 3715 Adelboden and park in the large lot next to the gondola station. Remember to pay the parking fee CHF 5/day.
By public transport
From the Frutigen train station, take a bus to Adelboden, Mineralquelle. It’s a short 3 minute walk down to the gondola station, crossing a bridge across the river.
Bus back from Hahnenmoos
After the hike, if you are not riding scooters down from Hahnenmoos, ride down the chair lift to Geils and catch the bus back to Adelboden. In the summer, the bus runs about once an hour, from Adelboden, Geils to the Adelboden village. Check the current schedule on SBB.ch.
Planning your day
Ticket prices
The best value is the Scooter Combined Offer for CHF 58/adult, CHF 44/child. This day pass includes includes unlimited use of the cable cars and scooters.
Discount with Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Half Fare Card, GA, and hotel guest cards. They also offer a slightly discounted family pass for 2 adults and 2 children.
You can also get cable car tickets without the scooters. See current prices.
Opening hours
Summer season in Adelboden is usually mid June through mid October. Lifts run daily starting at 9:00, last ride down from Hahnenmoos at 16:50. On Sundays, the Oey lift opens at 8:00. See current operating times.
Where to eat
At the top of the Sillerenbühl gondola, there is a Bergrestaurant Sillerenbühl with a big playground and small bike park. At Hahnenmoos, we ate at the Berghotel Hahnenmoos self-service cafeteria, typical fare. Views from their outdoor terrace are pretty nice. I didn’t see any picnic areas with fire pits on this trail.
What to wear
Check the forecast and wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Since the path is mostly obstacle free and short, you can wear any comfortable walking shoe. If there is chance of rain or clouds, bring at least a light rain jacket since weather can changes quickly in the mountains. Bring a sun hat and wear sunscreen. Hiking sticks are not necessary.
It’s a short hike, with restaurants on both ends. But I would still bring water and snacks.

Starting the trail
Follow yellow signs to Hahnenmoospass and the square green marker labeled Blumenweg.

The trail starts downhill on a paved road. We were not happy to walking down just to walk back up a few minutes later.

Now walking uphill.

Looking back at Sillerenbühl.

Nice views across the valley.

Passing through a herd of cows. You can see one of the flower info signs along the trail.

Easy walking on this flat path.

Descending to Hahnenmoos, a short walk, probably less than one hour.

View of Lenk from Hahnenmoos. There are trails leading down to Lenk, then you can take a bus/train back to Adelboden.

If you are not riding scooters, ride down the chair lift to Geils and catch the bus back to Adelboden. In the summer, the bus runs about once an hour, from Adelboden, Geils to the Adelboden village. Check the current schedule on SBB.ch.
Scooter Run
The hike was just an appetiser for us. The main event was the scooters, It’s a really fun trail 9k back to our starting point.

Most of the trail is a paved road, which makes for smooth riding. There are a few flat bits where we had to walk but not that much. On the second half of the trail, there are multiple trail options, some that leave the paved road onto a dirt path. We choose the dirt path, which was very bumpy, but more scenic near the river.

Since the scooter rental is for the whole day, you can ride back up any of the lifts and scoot back down.
