Now that the weather is getting better I can’t wait to go back to Tiefenbrunnen. This is a beach on the lake in Zurich, just a little bit beyond the China garden, on the way to Zollikon.
For about CHF 8 per adult (kids under 6 free) you can lounge on beautiful shady lawns, surrounded by flower beds, swim in the lake toward floating platforms, slide down a long loopy slide, let the children dabble in little ankle-deep pools, play in playgrounds, and you can get a balanced meal at the cafeteria.

There’s a women-only section and the beach seems naturally divided between singles and families, but in a relaxed way. I cannot wait to go back!

Just a word of warning: once we stayed too long, and though we didn’t feel the heat, and Leonore wore sunblock and a hat, she suffered from some kind of dehydration in the evening (fever). It went away the next day but was a bit scary. So keep giving kids drinks, and maybe leave before you actually want to!
