Sattel-Hochstuckli is a mountain resort near Zürich with beautiful views and lots of amusements for families. In 2021, they added a “Goat Adventure Trail” which has fun goat-themed activities for kids. The trail leads to a farm where you can see goats and try goat milk cheese and ice cream.
The trail has gorgeous panorama views across lakes, valleys and mountains. There are a couple picnic areas with fire pits and a restaurant along the way. After the hike, kids can enjoy the big outdoor amusement center with bouncy castles, trampolines and summer toboggan – a nice reward for good hiking.

Overview of Sattel Hochstuckli area
Here is a map of the Sattel-Hochstuckli mountain resort. After riding a gondola up to Mostelberg at 1200m, you’ll find a big outdoor play area with bouncy castles, trampolines, and summer toboggan. The goat trail starts to your right on the purple line, leading to the goat farm.

The Goat Adventure Trail starts at the top of the gondola and leads to the Blümlisalp goat farm. Then you return the way you came. The path is dirt but possible with strollers.

If you want more variety on the way back, you can do a loop, continuing on the RUNDweg Engelstock panorama trail, so you see something different on the way back. The loop has more elevation gain. But I prefer it because you can get to see more beautiful views and something different on the second half of the trail. However, small children may find it too difficult.
Getting there
To reach the trail, you’ll ride up the gondola from Sattel to Mostelberg.
By car: Drive to Sattel and follow signs to the Hochstuckli Revolving Gondola (). There is a big parking lot next to the gondola. In 2021, it costs CHF 5 for the day.
By public transport: The Sattel, Gondelbahn bus stop is directly adjacent to the gondola station. Find your exact connection on SBB.ch.
Ticket prices
To do this trail, you’ll need a return ticket on the Sattel-Mostelberg gondola. In 2023, this gondola ticket costs CHF 24/adult, CHF 12/child age 6-16, under 6 ride free. Discount for GA & SBB Half-fare cards.
If you want to add on Rondos Playland (unlimited summer toboggan, bouncy park, etc.), you can instead buy a day pass, which includes the gondola. In 2023, this day pass costs CHF 45/adults, CHF 35/child up to age 16. See current prices on Sattel website.
Opening hours
The gondola runs daily from late April to October from 8:30-17:00 (until 17:30 during school holidays from July through mid August). The playland amusements are typically open from 10:30 – 16:30 (during summer school holidays from 10:00 – 17:00). See current opening hours.

From the top of the Mostelberg gondola, follow the road/path to your right. Follow trail signs toward Geissä Wäg and Blüemlisberg. The start of the trail looks like this.
The first activity is right as you enter the forest. It’s a matching game with the different breeds of goats found here.
The info boards are in German and English. You answer an easy question and record your answer in the booklet.

The goat theme trail is done here. Keep it easy by walking back the way you came. Or continue the panorama loop by walking up the hill.
The panorama loop gets a bit tough as you climb the hill for about 20 mins. Little kids will definitely start complaining here.

After reaching the pass, it’s an easy stroll on this road back to the gondola station.
Amusements at Mostelberg
Back near the gondola, the kids can enjoy the amusements, perhaps starting with the bouncy castles. If you plan to do this, it’s best to by the day pass, which includes the gondola ride and unlimited use of the bouncy castles, tubing, and summer toboggan.
You can buy single passes for the summer toboggan or get unlimited rides with the day pass.

Walk across the suspension bridge.
Instead of riding the gondola down the mountain, you can rent kick scooters (aka Trotti) to ride down. It’s a beautiful ride but does have a few sections where you have to walk your scooter uphill. It costs CHF 19/person. The ride takes about 90 mins. Learn more.
Where to eat
We usually eat at Berggasthaus Mostelberg, which is right next to the gondola station. They have nice views from their outdoor tables.
We particularly like their vegan Flammenkuchen.
