This lovely snowshoe trail near Zürich is a great choice for beginners. It’s a relatively easy 5 km loop, with a little uphill but not too much to make everyone want to quit. The quiet countryside is very beautiful and not crowded because it’s not near any ski hills or other amusements.
Big wide sledding hill, great for families, and little ski hill for beginners behind a beautiful monastery in central Switzerland.
This small ski hill near Einsiedeln is a good choice for families with little kids who just want to sled or are starting on skis. It’s close enough to Zurich that you could go in the afternoon for just a couple hours. It also has a big playground with a zip line, winter walks, a horse-drawn sleigh, and a full-service restaurant.
Bike 14 km around this lovely lake, half on a dirt path and half on the road. Lots of places for a picnic and swimming along the way.
Treat your family to a traditional horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snowy forests near Zug. Ends at a restaurant with a playground, fun even in winter.
This wild animal park, southwest of Zug in the shadow of Mt. Rigi, has has a very natural setting, so it feels more like a walk in the woods than a zoo. Deer and rams roam freely and vending machines throughout the park sell boxes of animal food so you can feed the animals. The bear exhibit is a big draw, though they aren’t always active.
