I’m Tanya, a writer, explorer and mother of two, based in Zürich Switzerland. Since 2005, I’ve been cataloging the family-friendly hikes and other activities we’ve done in Switzerland and beyond on this website, helping hundreds of families enjoy the best of Switzerland.
We are not just a pretty picture. We give a personal account of each activity with detailed information how to get there, what to expect, what’s special for families, what to avoid, and how to best use your time. We provide lots of practical details based on our experience that will help minimize the frustration and maximize the fun.
I want to inspire you to try activities that you perhaps hadn’t considered doing with your kids. Switzerland makes it easy for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the outdoors and I want to help more people get out there. I hope you find the blog helpful and have many happy adventures in Switzerland or wherever your travels take you.

My origin story
In 2005, I moved from San Francisco to Zürich, Switzerland with my husband and one year old son. Like any transition, it was tough at first, but the beautiful Swiss landscape made it much easier to love where I lived.
I started this website with a few moms I met in a playgroup in Zurich. We wanted to keep track of all the travel tips the moms shared at the playgroup. Although lots of moms had great ideas, I was the only one posting them. Eventually, I took over the blog and made it into my own passion project. With over 400 posts of all sorts of family-friendly activities in Switzerland, you are bound to find something you like.
Over the past 14 years, we have done hundreds of hikes with our two boys, who are now 11 and 15. It makes me happy that my two boys now excitedly ask “Are we going on a gondola today?” or “Are we building a fire for lunch?” I want my kids to love being outside and enjoy simple pleasures like picking wildflowers and throwing rocks in a river. So far it’s working.
