Circular mountain hikes
1. Etzel Kulm
From the pass, this trail starts on a steep but short climb on a rocky path in the forest. After about 20 mins, you arrive at beautiful viewpoint over Lake Zürich with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the distant peaks of the Swiss Alps. At the top, there is a restaurant and playground. You descend through forest, emerging to beautiful meadows as you loop back to the pass.

2. Bachtel Kulm
This moderate hike leads to the summit of the Bachtel mountain, located in the Swiss Prealps near Zurich. The trail is well-marked with some steep inclines, but the panoramic views from the summit make it well worth the effort. At the top, you can enjoy a refreshing drink or a meal at the mountain hut restaurant while taking in the breathtaking scenery.

3. Chli aubrig peak hike
Starting at a mountain pass, this trail leads to the Chli Aubrig peak where you can enjoy panorama views across the Einsiedeln region. It’s a good choice for spring because it’s relatively low elevation and doesn’t require a gondola. After visiting the peak, the trail loops below the peak through some marshy fields that can be flooded right after rain.

4. Hirzli Rundweg • Peak hike near Zürich
Steep hike up to a mountain peak with gorgeous panorama views towards the Walensee lake and Churfirsten mountain range. The trail is a narrow dirt path with lots of switchbacks and some loose rock, best done with sturdy hiking shoes and sticks.

5. Schönhalden Guscha Ridge Hike
Beautiful ridge hike near Flumserberg in Eastern Switzerland, accessed by a tiny private gondola. The tough climb at the beginning makes the view from the ridge even sweeter.

8. Lützelsee
This scenic stroll takes you around a picturesque lake on a smooth gravel path. The trail winds through a protected nature reserve, a peaceful forest, and a tranquil neighborhood. 10. Kätzensee

11. Näfels Obersee
Easy walk for families around beautiful Swiss alpine lake south of Zurich. It feels a bit like a secret, hidden above rocky cliffs, reached by a narrow one lane road. Once you get there, it’s easy walking along the lake shore.
If you don’t mind driving up the narrow winding mountain road to reach this lake, then it’s a great choice for visitors on a budget since you don’t have to pay for a gondola to reach the lake. There is a short easy path around the lake, first on a wide gravel path, then on a quiet paved road in the forest next to the lakeshore.
