Although Swiss ski season starts in December, many resorts don’t have enough snow until late January. So here are our suggestions for early winter skiing in Switzerland.
The best Swiss ski resorts a day trip distance of Zürich, particularly for families. From small local hills for absolute beginners to bigger resorts with good ski schools and lots of blue runs for practicing.
Our family likes skiing at Stoos in Central Switzerland for its gorgeous views and wide open slopes, with terrain suitable for all skill levels. They offer a very affordable family ski pass. For non-skiers, there are beautiful winter walks and a long sled run.
This small resort is perfect for beginners and families with different ages and skill levels with multiple affordable ticket options. It has a magic carpet for beginner skiers and sledders. It’s close to Zurich, so possible even on a Wednesday afternoon.
